North East Ontario Regional Directors Report for April, 2012

First I want to remind you of the Ontario QSO party that is coming up this month on April 21 and 22. For complete details check out the Contest Club of Ontario's web site located here, http://www.va3cco.com/oqp/. VA3RAC will be operating portable from Manitoulin Island, so give a listen for them as well.

We are also coming into Hamfest season and two coming up in Ontario are the 16th Annual Iroquois Hamfest on April 7th and the Smiths Falls Fleamarket on May 12th. Further information is available in the current TCA in the Coming Events section.

Recently the Board of Directors has created a new position of "Deputy Director". The job of the Deputy Director is to assist and advise the Director, and unlike the Assistant Directors can vote at Board meetings if the Director is not there. I am hoping to fill the position of Deputy Director for North /East Ontario Region. If you are interested in further information please don’t hesitate to contact me. I will also be contacting various presidents in Eastern Ontario for their thoughts on this, so expect a phone call sometime in the future.

The Field organisation in Ontario has recently been changed from one SM to four. We are always looking for people to fill in positions under the SM in the various jobs. Please give it a thought.

Finally, Mitch, VE6OH and his group is organising a major Hamfest on the weekend of August 11th and 12th. It is shaping up to be a pretty impressive looking weekend. Could this turn into Dayton North? You may want to mark your calendar for this one.

The Radio Amateurs of Canada (RAC) is looking for a Treasurer who is a Chartered Accountant, Certified General Accountant or Certified Management Accountant. A certification in amateur radio is optional. As RAC's financial advisor, we need someone to provide direction on the accounts and act as liaison with the external auditors. Experience with QuickBooks would be an asset.

Please speak with your friends, there must be a RAC member who either qualifies or can approach someone for this volunteer position. Interested parties please contact the RAC Corporate Secretary at vo1prb@rac.ca

Bulletin de RAC 2011-025F – Le Montreal Amateur Radio Club sera l’hôte de l’assemblée générale annuelle 2012 de RAC.

La location de l’assemblée générale annuelle 2012 a été révélée pendant l’assemblée générale annuelle (AGA) 2011 tenue à St-Jean Terre-Neuve. L’AGA 2011 a été accueillie par la Society of Newfoundland Radio Amateurs [SONRA]. L’AGA 2012 de RAC se tiendra à Montréal et sera accueillie par le Montreal Amateur Radio Club. Les dates exactes seront annoncées en septembre ou octobre.

RAC est heureux de venir dans ‘la belle province’. Les membres de RAC sont incités à venir à l’AGA et à considérer arranger leur agenda de façon à y ajouter une petite vacance pour saisir les vues et les sonorités de la cosmopolite ville de Montréal et visiter d’autres parties du Québec.

RAC Bulletin 2011-025E – Montreal Amateur Radio Club to Host 2012 RAC Annual General Meeting.

RAC Bulletin 2011-025E – Montreal Amateur Radio Club to Host 2012 RAC Annual General Meeting.

The location of the 2012 Annual General Meeting was announced during the 2011 Annual General Meeting [AGM] held in St. John’s Newfoundland. The 2011 AGM was hosted by the Society of Newfoundland Radio Amateurs [SONRA]. The 2012 AGM will be held in Montreal and will be hosted by the Montreal Amateur Radio Club. The exact dates will be announced in September or October.

RAC is pleased to come to ‘la belle province’. RAC members are urged to come to the AGM and to consider arranging their schedules to add a little vacation to take in the sights and sounds of the cosmopolitan city of Montreal and visit other parts of Quebec.
