Museum ships weekend

This special event notice comes from Dave Hayes, VE3JX, the editor of The Algoma Amateur:

A popular event, the Museum Ships Weekend contest starts 0000Z on June 6th, which translates to 2000 ET on June 5th.  It runs through to 2359Z on June 7th, which is 2159 ET.

There are at least 82 ships worldwide participating.  Certificates are issued to persons who contact 15 or more of them.

While it is too late this year, a nice project would be to put the M.S Norgoma on the air.  Any takers?

Details on the requirements for museum ships, as well as a listing of all participating vessels, operating frequencies and other info on the contest, can be found on the website for the Battleship New Jersey’s amateur radio station: www.nj2bb.org  The New Jersey is host to the contest.

Incidentally, their call sign is very appropriate.  NJ2BB: ‘NJ’ standing for New Jersey, and ‘BB’ being the designation of the type of ship (battleship) in the US Navy.
