2013-11-07

The Radio Amateurs of Canada would like to congratulate the students, volounteers and teacher Robert Streimer (VE4SHS) at Shaftsbury High School in Winnipeg Manitoba for a successful launch of SHARP 3.1 yesterday.

The SHARP 3.1 helium filled balloon reached an impressive maximum altitude of 35,727 meters (117,214 feet)! This HAB had a payload consisting of four cameras, electronic sensors, Geiger counter, 3 axis accelerometer/magnetometer, 1 internal and 3 external temperature sensors, a luminosity and barometric pressure sensor. Now begins the analyzing of the various data that was collected during the flight.

RAC would like to recognize Bill Unger (VE3XT) for being instrumental in assisting the success of this event through a community grant from RAC in the amount of $500.
